Injury Registry Update
There are 46 new fireworks-related injuries reported today. The total number of cases as of 05 January 2008 is 866, which is 189 cases (18%) lower than previous 3-year average (Fig. 1) or 426 cases (33%) lower than the same period last year. There was one case of firecracker powder ingestion and no stray bullet injury reported.

Forty-one ( 6% ) sustained injuries after January 1, 2008. There was one death (watusi ingestion) | | A. Fireworks-related Injuries | Majority, 680 (80%) were males. Ages ranged from 4 months to 84 years (Median 15) : 302 (35%) cases were children 10 years and below. Five hundred eighty-nine (69%) cases were from NCR (Table 1). Six hundred thirty (74%) sustained blast/burn injury without amputation, 159 (19%) with eye injury, 61 (7%) with amputation.
